D3 Preseason Pick: Who Will Win It All In 2013?

The Division 3 Top 20 Rankings will be done a little differently than its D1 or D2 counterparts, but this new approach could also yield a pretty impressive poll, so it’s worth the wait. In the meantime, I have selected the team I think will win it all this year, and to spice up the conversation, I’ll show you what’s on the line: RINGS!

Who Will Win It All in D3?

I’m going with a Southern team in 2013, but probably not the team CAC you’re thinking of. It’s Stevenson‘s biggest opportunity to win it all right now, they have a ton of talent, and have really solidified themselves as a Top 5 program. Add in their move to the MAC, a conference they can dominate, and it leads me to believe that, at this point in the year, 2013 will see the Mustangs take home their first title.

The Mustangs have a good amount of returning talent, but they did lose some guys to graduation, like many other programs. However, with the return of a guy who was injured last year, and a couple of young players sure to make an impact, I’m liking Stevenson early.

History, and much of the South, will perpetually be on the side of the Gulls, NESCACians are sure to pick Tufts, and still others will go for Cortland, or some other school. But for me, 2013 is the year of the Mustang. Coach Cantabene, make me look smart, please!

Now that you’ve seen my Pre-Preseason pick for the upcoming national champion, check out Salisbury’s rings from last year. It’s just a little added motivation…

That’s a lot of titles, Mr. Andrew Sellers! Sellers was a two-time champ at SU (see photo below) while playing defense for the Gulls, and now works at Trilogy Lacrosse.

Adding another ring to the trophy case…
