Guess Who’s Back…

[polite applause]

“Look…

If you had one shot

One opportunity

To seize everything you ever…”

Wait. That’s not right. Hold on.

[audience anxiously whispering]

“Two trailer park girls go round the outside

Round the outside, round the outside

Two trailer park girls go round the outside

Round the outside, round the outside

Guess who’s back, back again…”

Once upon a time, when I was a precocious young scamp trading snark and analysis on Laxpower, Connor was foolish kind enough to let me write a few posts for his fledgling blog. It was my first opportunity to do anything other than yammer incessantly on an internet message board, and for that opportunity I have always been grateful. Since then, my college lacrosse days have come and gone. I graduated from Connecticut College this past May, privileged to have had the chance to play with some great guys and enjoy some significant success, both collectively and personally. I wrote for Inside Lacrosse for a bit, but ultimately decided it wasn’t the greatest fit for me. This may come as a surprise to those who have read my stuff before, but editors and deadlines aren’t exactly my cup of tea.

That brings us to the present and this blog, which will be simultaneously similar and different to the stuff I have done in the past. I still love the NESCAC and D3 lacrosse (in that order) and will write about them at length. However, I’m tired of rehashing the same way of looking at the game. From where I sit, lacrosse is poised to undergo some pretty significant changes in the coming years. In fact, those changes look to already have begun, for better or worse, with this year’s installment of blunders rule changes handed down by the NCAA. How we view the game should change accordingly, and I hope to help make some progress in that area during the upcoming season. If that sounds cryptic, I apologize, but I don’t want to get in-depth in an intro post.

So, before this post gets any further off-track, let me preemptively thank you for reading. My first real post will be up in the next couple of days. Connor has keys to the guest house and will be dropping in at his leisure to feed the dogs, water the plants, and provide some content.

I am also looking for a couple of people to join me here in providing content as long as you meet the following qualifications:

  • You like lacrosse
  • You have an opinion about lacrosse (multiple opinions preferred but not mandatory)
  • You have an internet connection (sorry, no carrier pigeons)
  • You have a pulse
  • You have an IQ above 50 (optional)

If someone out there is interested, shoot me an email at swanklax@gmail.com.

In the meantime, take it upon yourself to follow me on Twitter.
