Lynchburg knocking off Salisbury was as big as an early game could be. It’s not the end of the road for either team by any means, but this outcome could certainly shape both squad’s seasons to some extent. All we really learned is that both of these teams are very good, and the upside down the line for both teams is tremendous. Lynchburg will be good all year. SU still has the potential to be great. It’s going to be a good year!

Also, Vin Curran scored five goals and used traditional.

Scrimmage Reports

Scores are not of paramount interest in scrimmages, and this year that is especially true. With new rules in place, scrimmages are not about wins and losses, but about making sure you know what the heck you’re doing, and where your new strengths and weaknesses may lie.

An interesting note on the refffing is that some of the guys seem to be having trouble keeping up with the pace of play. For referees, conditioning will play a huge role in how well they can do this their job this year. A good team effort, for a three man crew, can do a lot, but if a guy is lagging, important plays could be missed. It’s a big adjustment, and we are sure to see some confusion from coaches, players, fans, and yes, even refs, early on.

One thing we can say for sure is that the freshman are looking good. Also Eastern CT has some pretty gear this year:

The NESCAC Started!

It was only four glorious days ago when the NESCAC kicked off practice. Many of the teams, due to the increasingly early start of the season, scrimmaged the very next day. Wesleyan, for example, took on Springfield and Eastern CT, on the 16th, after just one day of practice. They were not alone in this approach as Tufts scrimmaged Yale on the 17th, and many other teams saw action on either Saturday or Sunday.

Meaningful Scores?

It’s hard to say these games will remain relevant, but they sure are right now:

Colorado College 11 – Guilford 8

Albion 10 – Kenyon 9

Stevenson 17 – Nazareth 11

Washington & Lee 12 – Christopher Newport 9
