LOUD NOISES!

We’ll start off with some of the big story lines, because that’s the way this thing works.

Cabrini Tops Ithaca

Cabrini’s last four games have all been against Top 20 teams, and the Cavaliers have gone 3-1 in that run of games, with their only loss coming to #1 Cortland 10-7. The Cavs beat Ithaca 10-8, Union 12-8, and Gettysburg 12-11. The Cavs are winning close games against good teams. Is this the year Cabrini finally breaks through and makes a Final Four? Corey Elmer currently leads this team in scoring with a balanced 17 goals and 16 assists.

Who Is Still Undefeated?

#1 Cortland is still unbeaten at 8-0. #2 Dickinson is also undefeated, at 9-0. But you knew that already? So who else is undefeated?

UMass Dartmouth is 6-0 right now. They won their last game against Western Conn 5-4 in OT. UMD plays Conn College on April 2nd for the next game.

Centenary (NJ) is 7-0 right now. They won their last game against DeSales 14-12. They play Cabrini next, on April 3rd.

And that’s it!

Meaningful Scores

Bowdoin 7 – Williams 6 (4 OT) Knock off Middlebury, then go to 4 OTs with Williams. Makes sense. Is the NESCAC (outside of Tufts) tight once again? Yes, yes it is.

Conn College 11 – Colby 10 It’s tough to win in Waterville, especially if you’re a Camel. This is a very underrated win for Conn.

Dickinson 8 – Ursinus 3 I like how Dickinson can score goals, or keep it low scoring and control a game. Either way they win. This is a truly dangerous team, and they are capable of making a trip to the finals this year, more so than in any recent year.

F&M 16 – WAC 9 Huge win for Franklin & Marshall. Just like the NESCAC, the ODAC and Centennial are both looking competitive, and balanced. WAC is good, clearly, but their top 10 status should be in serious doubt now.

Bowdoin 7 – Middlebury 6 Both teams looked good, and athletic, but neither seems to be on the same level as Tufts right now. The Midd offense creates a bit, but for the most part, both of these teams are waiting for the defense to make mistakes. Then they try to make you pay. Will that be enough to make the NCAAs and go on a run?

Muhlenberg 10 – Gettysburg 9 (OT) Muhlenberg is scrapping this year, and competing. A couple more big wins and Muhlenberg could be a nice little dark horse. Don’t count Gburg out yet… Muhlenberg to Gburg is like Colby to Conn. It’s like a Kryptonite and Superman thing.

Clarkson 8 – RPI 7 Good Upstate battle. Are either of these teams capable of making a run and upsetting favorites? I’m not sure… yet.

RIT 25 – Nazareth 15 40 goals in a game? Why not! RIT is looking strong once again, but getting past Cortland and Tufts up North (at least those look like the top teams) is a tall order. Is 2013 the Tigers year? It’s a toss up. I’d take those odds.

Stevenson 12 – Lynchburg 11 (OT) What a game! Two very talented teams, just going at it. Who could want more? Someone had to lose, and the Mustangs pulled out the W at home in extra time. I think we can expect to see these two teams play one more time this year… maybe expect is a strong word… HOPE… I HOPE to see these two teams play each again this year. Seriously.

Florida Tech 9 – MIT 8 Sure, MIT isn’t great this year, and FTech is a D2 school, but I love interdivisional games, so they’re getting love. D3 boys almost pulled it off. Good effort!

Adrian 15 – Carthage 13 These are both newer programs on the rise. I love when they get together the game turns into a shoot out and not a defensive battle. Beautiful. This is a big win for Adrian, who is currently 5-3 and begins MIAA play on April 6th against 1-8 Calvin.

Wesleyan 7 – Amherst 6 Wesleyan beat Williams earlier in the season, and this means Wesleyan is the 2013 Little Three Champion for Men’s Lacrosse. The Little Three (1899) is the oldest three team league in US College Sports, and predates Harvard-Yale-Princeton’s Big Three conference (pre-Ivy League forming) by about a decade.
