LOUD NOISES!

We’ll start off with some of the big story lines, because that’s the way this thing works.

Cortland – Ithaca was classic. Cortland might be looking like one of the top teams right now, but that didn’t stop their game with then #18 Ithaca from going to OT. In the end, Zach Hopps, a freshman out of Akwesasne, gave Cortland the 9-8 win at home on a snowy field with an unassisted goal. Never bad to have first year players scoring big goals like that.

How good is Dickinson’s 7-0 start? It’s never bad to be undefeated, but with only one win against a Top 20 team (Cabrini 12-6), the Red Devils aren’t a lock to stay perfect. The teams that have beaten have a combined record of 29-26. Big games against Ursinus, Gettysburg, and WAC are rapidly approaching.

Middlebury is 5-0 with solid wins over Wesleyan (7-6) and Conn (11-4). The teams they have beat have a combined record of 15-15 so it’s hard to say Midd is back, but it’s also hard to say they aren’t. The Panthers are definitely looking up again after a couple of suspect seasons.

Oh, Plattsburgh. After knocking off Conn College in Baltimore, Plattsburgh was looking like a serious dark horse for 2013… and then they took a loss to Mary Washington, and the doubters came back… but here is a little tip: MW is actually pretty good this year! Sitting at 6-2, they have solid wins overs Goucher, Whittier, and Christopher Newport, and are playing very competitive games. Watch both of these teams: Plattsburgh and Mary Washington, moving forward.

Oswego – Ithaca is a big game? Ithaca is obviously a team worthy of Top 20 consideration, and is moving up in the world. This week the play Oswego, who sits at 4-0. This one should tell us a lot more about of these teams.
