The D3 Report: Week Two

Welcome to the D3 Report. Got a topic you want covered? Have photos to share? Or info that might be of interest? Hit us up and put D3 in the subject line to get on our radar. If you want something a little saucer, Béarnaise, I recommend you check out Clay’s Monday Morning Over Reactions.

We’ll start off with some of the big story lines, because why not? Solid reasoning right there.

Salisbury has now lost TWO games this year, both to ODAC teams. They did, however, beat Widener, 7-5. Do the Gulls have talent? Yes, they sure do, but they are playing disjointedly on offense right now, and Ryan Clarke honestly looks more than just a little tentative. I can’t see that keeping up for long.

Dickinson has destroyed Lycoming and St. Mary’s. Keep an eye on that program this year, in addition to Stevenson, as one of those teams that has a great chance to break through, even if the Mustangs’ wins over Naz and Hampdem-Sydney were just a bit close than the Red Devils’ wins.

Here’s a litte MAC preview, featuring Stevenson as well:

Lynchburg’s webcast announcers are one of the few duos I can listen to, partially because they are homers and I always find that funny, but also because they make some great observations about Lynchburg in general, and that is more than amusing. It’s not great, but it’s not awful either. For D3 webcasts in general, that’s actually a step up.

Whittier is 3-0, young, and looking to impress, but Jac Coyne could have told you that. Will they have what it takes to get invited to the dance this year? As an independent, I like their chances!

And here is a great photo from Kim Black, featuring Ferrum and Virginia Wesleyan:154801_10200167546486588_687877516_n

Scrimmage Reports

NESCAC teams are still scrimmaging, and freshmen are still looking good. Wesleyan hosted Trinity and UMass Dartmouth last weekend and looked pretty athletic. Amherst lost to Dartmouth but got a good test, and Tufts did well against both Yale and Quinnipiac. We used to scrimmage Quinnipiac back in the day, and covering the Baglio brothers was always fun.
